Something is happening in Winnipeg. The city is evolving and its architecture is evolving with it. For nearly a decade, architecture and design culture has experienced a rebirth in the city not seen since the modernists of the mid-20th century. Buzz about Winnipeg design is spreading its way across Canada and the 2014 RAIC Festival, hosted by Manitoba’s capital, is the place and time to show the rest of the country what we’ve been up to. Here and Now presents current work of over 20 architects and designers illustrating the strength and diversity of the phenomena.
The Department of Architecture at the University of Manitoba recently celebrated its centenary. The DoA Studio Exhibition acknowledges the legacy and contribution of the Architecture Program in shaping the profession in Winnipeg, the prairie region, and beyond. The exhibition is focused on DoA Design Studio and will include work from 12 studios from 2013-14 academic year.
